Heres the final animation without effects we're happy its done and feel everyone contrubuted well toward the finish product. There are many flaws we see in the final which our mentioned in each of our evaluation.

my final scene for the stop motion and Evaluation
Today i have accomplished doing the final scene for the stop motion, the scene where my riot soldier who is wielding the gatling gun gets shot by the enemy sniper and dies. Though i should have really done this yesterday after my gatling gun scene but i was Expecting the scene where my gatling gun kills a vast magority of the green army men but it was delayed till today. After i had accomplished my part of the animation i started to work on my evaluation where i will be critically evaluating my work from the beginning of the entire project.

What i did today, yesterday and the day-before.
the day-before when we came back from our holiday i began to cut out the remaining sprites including my riot solider sprites that Pete has prinited out and stuck on mount board for me, it took me a while to cut them but i managed to get it done by the end of the day, after that i cut some body pieces out with Pete's extra remaining sprites for the exoplosion scene. On Tuesday i started to animate my riot soldier sprites for the stop motion, it was the part where to actually come into the scene as rienforcments but today i did more animations such as animation the garlting gun being used and more wall cycles for mine and petes soldiers in the background and also death animations.
Dear Peter i have done it!!!!! YAY!!! :D

Dear Kyle.
Considering there was a number of things I should of told you and hopefully you will actually check the blog in the morning, here is a number of things I'd like you to bear in mind.
Don't just use your sprites like for the minigun bit. We need things going on in the background, aka my sprites walking in and dying/ your sprites shooting or dying etc.
And for the minigun bit don't just use the single picture for the whole scene, wobble the sprite around so atleast it looks like its being moved slightly.
Also we are laptop 3.
Good luck, don't mess this up boy.
Pete.

Soundtracks and music to be used in the animation
while the sprites dont need too much attention for now, i have been assigned to go look for some soundtracks to be used in the animation and i found quite few soundtacks that might fit in the animation, though i still need the group to decide which soundtracks they want to use for the animation, if all of them get rejected then i must continue searching for more. here is the list.
Immediate Music - League Of Justice (choir)
A Dream Of Armageddon - [PROTOTYPE] Soundtrack
Errand Boy - [PROTOTYPE] Soundtrack
if we need more or if any none of these work or majority of them, i will update these as soon as possible.
Immediate Music - League Of Justice (choir)
Immediate Music - Off To Neverland
Immediate Music - King For A Day (choir)
charge of the rohirrim soundtrack
Lord Rings - White Rider arrives at Helms Deep
Band of Brothers Soundtrack - Main Theme
Tekken 6 - Spring Trailer (HD)
[Tekken 6 OST] Battle in the Sky
soulEdge / Blade OST 15 - Darkness of Fate (Khan)
Dragon Ball Z: Buu's Fury OST - Gohan's Hidden Power
Dragon Ball Z: Buu's Fury OST - Dangerous Standoff
Soul Calibur IV OST Twilight Dwellers
Under The Knife - [PROTOTYPE] Soundtrack
Dragonball Z OST - Bruce Faulconer - Vegeta Fights Frieza Theme
Dragonball Z Ultimate Battle 22 Super saiyan 3 (Arranged ver.)
Disturbed - Land of Confusion Official Music Video

if we need more or if any none of these work or majority of them, i will update these as soon as possible.
Stuff to do today (16.02.11)
I am intending on finishing the 3D side of the set and hopefully getting the 2D started also.
If possible I'd like to stay here to finish it after our lesson ends.

THE EFEECTS ANIMATION IS FINALLY HERE!!!
After a day of sparring with a mac laptop I've achieved a test animation using effects and sound. This should give you a good idea of what we want to achieve when the army men are attacking.
whole sprite sheet.
here is the entire sprite sheet for the riot soldier which includes all the poses, for now its finished untill there is more stuff that needs adding.
Riot soldier walkcycle w/rifle
I have managed to get the riot soldier walkcycle with the rifle done faster than i have expected to do it.
Sprite positions
i have finished creating the death, prone and crawl position for the riot soldier sprite, though the death position had to be rotated using photoshop which messed up the pixels a bit, i would of created the positions manually but time is something we dont have at the moment. Next i must do another walk cycle for the riot soldier this time holding the rifle.
Sprite walkcycle test
here is a quick walkcycle i have created using the riot soldier sprite and windows movie maker.
Animation stuff
I thought I would show you these walk cycles complete with arms and guns!
I probably will need to make more with slightly different characters or to continue my idea of repetition and keep them all the same.
But first, I want to show you the sound I intend to play during several sprite parts in the animation.
Anyway here is a video with 3 walk cycles, also a funny death animation which clearly needs work.
And also something that amused me while I was doing this.
Pete.

More Concept Art
Gatling gun and objectives for the day
I had started to work on the gatling gun for the sprites to use in this stop motion animation and i've successfully completed it, though its a bit to big it should still suffice for the time being, we still need to know either we should animate the turret for the gatling gun when it comes to animation, other than that i still need to continue creating more positions for the riot soldier, such as the death animation poses, prone position and crawl position.
what to do today?
1. Completion of set.
2. Final test animation of effects
3. Some concept art

Storyboard Complete? (09.02.11)
Apart from working on the set and explaining to the group what it will look like, I managed to finish the storyboard today!
The picture to the left is the 2nd half of the storyboard, the 1st half can be found somewhere down this page. I'll need to explain this to the group tomorrow too, as well as adding panels.

HEEYY (>.<;) !!
We started to put together more of our set today. after we get the bunker built we can start to texture the ground and make the set actually look like its ready for war. In the mean time here are some images to entertain you and show our progress.
^_^ PEACE^_^
Concept images
I have come up with some ideas on what the guns could look like depending on peoples opinions please give comment on how you think they would fit in with our group animation how they could look better or anything else you could think of.
This is a sniper rifle long range shot only
primary fire 50 cal shells
secondary fire burst fire same bullets as primary
fire rate single shot & semi auto
Mini hand cannon pistol at the top left specs for that gun type of weapon lethal medium
Hand Cannon
primary fire- standard cannons
secondary fire- bullets
magazines (90)
shots (12)
single shot fire rate
Ak 47 specs
medium/long range gun
primary fire bullets
secondary fire - laser burner
fully automatic
if you have any other ideas on how to make them better please comment below

What Happened Today (08.02.11)
I set myself the task of completing the storyboard for today and although I didn't complete the whole storyboard, I made a good start. We already have plans for how the animation starts, these however aren't in my possession so I carried off from where we left. I Will hopefully have the whole thing finished tomorrow, then we can start filming!
Something else I also noticed was that the whole Sprite side might need to be CGI, but I haven't confirmed this at the moment. Either way we will need CGI for the characters, or we will find our hands full of moving sprites and then swapping the picture for another etc.
It would become a pain.
Pete.

Plans for today and sprite update
yesterday i've mangaed to give my sprite character walk cycle using by creating the outlines first using different colours, after i've got the outlines the in the right positions i then started to add more details such as the colour and the shading to it.
The plans for today are to get some more sprite positions in such as the death positions, crouch position, prone position and anymore positions needed.

What I'm doing today
Okay we like need to make the final storyboard NOW.
And considering I've given it some thought about how to link the scenes up I know I will be able to do a lot today if I focus hopefully.

Stuff! (07.02.11)
Today apart from discussing the story of the animation (storyboard and dialogue) I have been creating yet more sprites! When we finish the storyboard only then will I know what sprites we will need, I am going with general sprites and animations at the moment including the walk and kneeling on one knee poses. Anyway apart from that not much else happened in my department.
(Also, don't pay attention to the prone sprites, the shoulders are in the wrong place on one of them)
toy soldiers
The pursue to get the original toy soldiers still continue just some technical difficulties but will be bought and ready for tomorrow

What Happened Today (03.02.11)
We achieved most of our goals for today with the exception of starting the storyboard (but we atleast have a slight idea of what we are going to do and our own individual ideas).
I have 2 new guns made by Kyle to add to my character, one of which I have done today.
The most important thing we did today was our stop motion test which you can view in the post below.
Anyway not much else to report.
Pete.

Stop Motion Test
It was practically the end of the day, but we managed to throw out a test animation.
And here it is:
And here it is:
Stuff to do today
- Animation test with sprites.
- Have a vague idea of where the storyboard is heading (If possible start storyboarding by the end of the day).
- Think about any other resources we will need and request them.
- Anything else.

What's Going Down (02.02.11)
So like today I finished the walk cycle for the basic soldier as seen on the right, and also added a rocket launcher. I have also printed these out onto card to test animate them tomorrow to see how they work. I have done a quick test to see how it animates and it seems to be fine, so hopefully it will remain similar animation quality when we animate it on card.
Anyway on the left is what I have printed out and what they look like in the real world, along with the stand they will be animated on.We are unsure at the moment whether they will be animated like this with bases and white outline to the characters, but hopefully after some more discussion we'll come to an outcome.
Til next time.
Pete.
Kinda a Prologue ^_^
There once was a moment in time where peace was there way of life but within this field of harmony laid a bad seed that introduce evil and betrayal, beginning a never ending war. This is seed was……… THE GUY THAT SLEPT WITH MY GIRLFRIEND!!!
EFFECTS!!!!
We have obtained a video pilot action effects pack for after effects which is going to help us build a better and more intence atmosphere. the pack contains numoroues explosions, smoke, glass shattering and blood splattering effects it also comes with tutorial videos to show how to apply them to our animation. by the end of thursday we are aiming to have a tester animation complete showing one of these effects and sounds to go with them. This should give you guys a better image of what we want to achieve. below is a video of the action pack we have.

Stuff to do again
By the end of today (Wednesday) we need to have the following:
- 2 Gun Sprites (Rocket Launcher & M4).
- Finished Sprites (If possible, with walk cycle and holding a weapon).
- A vague idea of what we are going to storyboard tomorrow.
Mood board
During the session i decided to make a mood board to generate some ideas of where we can set this war so we can decide on what weapons & vehicles etc we should have to make the war seem more realistic.
The first mood board was for more of a futuristic styled war you can tell by the equipment which is being used by the military in the pictures .
The second mood board is about war back in the olden days you can tell this by the colour of the pictures and the style of armour, and the weapons which are being provided this is a second idea we are considering
Characters and weapons.
Yesterday i had designed some sprite characters for the stop motion project and some weapon designs such as the sniper, rocket launcher, Rifle, M4 assault rifle and the LMG. Today i edited one of the chosen sprite on paint though it still needs more work on it

New Stuff (01.02.11)
So today I was creating a soldier for the sprite army using one of Kyle's designs as a reference. The finished character is on the left to this paragraph. As far as we have planned, all the sprite army will consist of this character with different guns, eyes and probably little details like scratches on the helmet. There will also be other characters within the stopmotion which are being produced by Kyle.
Apart from making the primary soldier, I also planned what the set will look like in rough. One side of the set will be 3D, where the toy soldiers will originate from. The other side will be all 2D, which the sprites will take residence in.
The 2D side will have flat hills in the background and even the tower will be 2D with a gap to move sprites freely. The 3D side will have the hills carved into foam or wood, aswell as the tower also made from the same material.
We are also thinking of having helicopters come in at some point so we need to find a way to have them 'hover' over the scene.
Until next time.
Pete.
Today
A few of the various things we need to accomplish today are the following:
1. Create the basic soldier sprite for use in the animation. If possible create more versions (Walking, walking with gun etc.)
2. Create a diagram/plan of the set.
3. Think about vehicles. Planes. Cars. Tanks.
4. Anything else that crops up.

What I've done today... (31.01.11)
So after our meeting I started to make the 2D side of the set for our stopmotion, and also the letters A and R for the logo.
The set in general as far as we know will be set in an area with grassy hills with spots of dirt too.
One side of the set will be 3D, where the toy soldiers will mainly reside in and the other side will be 2D, where the sprites will mainly reside in.
Anyway without getting too involved in what the set will look like yet, here is what I sprited today. Click on the image for a better view.
As you can see (I hope) I made some basic tank traps that seem to look like they are made of wood. A palette change will probably fix this. I also made a bunker resembling the one from Saving Private Ryan. I then made the hills that will be in the background. The 3D side will probably have the hills actually carved out of something like foam or wood, but the 2D side will just be flat. I also made the layer that the sprites will actually walk on, which I'll probably just call the floor for now. So I then made two copies of the floor, one with just different shades of green in shapes of squares, and another where I have airbrushed over it with multiple shades of green to give that grassy texture feel.
Apart from the scenery stuff I also did the two letters for the logo. I also created W, even though it won't be used and the fact that its hard to create a W with 3x5 dimensions. Although the font I have created isn't finalised, it will probably look something like that but maybe with camouflage colouring.
Anyway that's all I have to say today so until next time.
Pete.

FIRST OFFICIAL MEETING
Today we brainstormed as many ideas as we could and decides on which ones we liked.
We began production of our group logo and font for the project.
We decided to purchase the original toy story soldiers from Argos as they give us more freedom with our ideas and the movement of the army men.
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3880021/Trail/searchtext%3ETOY+SOLDIERS.htm

We also reviewed stop motion videos with similar ideas.
This is one we all quite liked and was the closest to what we want the achieve.
Will keep you posted on our next meeting which is Monday 7th February< thank you for reading
